The Music of Wichita State

The songs that unite Shocker Nation —past and present

From our Alma Mater, written in 1910 and updated in 1926, to our Fight Song, these lyrics unite Shockers — past and present.

Back to Traditions

Alma Mater

Our alma mater Wichita,
Stands proudly on the hill.
Our sons and daughters bow to thee,
Our hearts with praise we fill.

Chorus:
Then, hail our Alma Mater!
Hail, Thee, grand and true,
Long wave the yellow and the black,
O Wichita, Here’s to you!

Around our lives are memories
That tenderly entwine,
And thru the midst of the rolling years,
Of thee we build a shrine.

Chorus

Thy call to all that life holds dear
Is a clear and constant guide.
With love and truth and loyalty,
And may they e’er abide.

Chorus

Fight Song

Go, you Shockers, fight the enemy,
Make them kneel before our Varsity,
We’re behind you with our battle cry.
Indestructible we’ll do or die for
Wichita State University.
We are brave and we’re bold,
So we will Fight, Fight, Wichita,
For the Black and Gold.

Go, you Shockers, fight the enemy,
Make them kneel before our Varsity,
We’re behind you with our battle cry.
Indestructible we’ll do or die for
Wichita State University.
We are brave and we’re bold,
So we will Fight, Fight, Wichita,
For the Black and Gold.

Hail Wichita

All Hail! Hail! Wichita U.
Rah! Rah! Rah for Wichita
March onward banners high,
With courage, force that can never
Die, Rah!
We’ll fight for Wichita,
Brave spirits never fail,
To Wichita all loyalty,
Hail! Our Varsity,
Triumphantly, Hail!

All Hail! Hail! Wichita U.
Rah! Rah! Rah for Wichita State Athletics
March onward banners high,
With courage, force that can never
Die, Rah!
We’ll fight for Wichita,
Brave spirits never fail,
To Wichita all loyalty,
Hail! Our Varsity,
Triumphantly, Hail!

Battle Cry

You don’t want to go to war,
with the Shockers.
Don’t start no stuff.
Won’t be no stuff.

You don’t want to go to war,
with the Shockers.
Don’t start no stuff.
Won’t be no stuff.
