By contributing a personalized brick paver to the Shocker Alumni Walkway, you can leave your own indelible mark right in the heart of Wichita State’s Innovation Campus, a place that merges the university’s forward-looking push in innovative and collaborative applied learning offerings to its longstanding tradition of excellence in service, scholarship and research in every field of study – from aeronautics and aviation science, anthropology and art; to business administration and entrepreneurship, engineering, music and nursing; to chemistry, applied computing and cybersecurity, public relations, philosophy, sports administration and psychology, teaching, environmental science and health, urban planning, statistics; to virology and zymology.
The first brick pavers were inscribed in the walkway in 2017. Since then, new brick installations have been made annually. Inscriptions range from commemorative bricks for favorite professors and classmates who left their marks decades ago, to inspirational messages for future Shockers. Lydia Leija ’13/14, for instance, purchased a brick for her son. It’s inscription is YOU CAN DO ANYTHING, SON.
Open not only to WSU grads and alumni but to all Shockers, faculty and university friends, the Shocker Alumni Walkway project is a revenue-generating program that supports the WSUFAE’s diverse programming and outreach efforts, assisting the organization in realizing its mission to “elevate, celebrate and advance Wichita State University through engagement and philanthropy.”
