What's happening at the College of Applied Studies?

The College of Applied Studies consists of four departments – the School of Education, Sport Management, Human Performance Studies and CLES (Counseling, Educational Leadership, Educational and School Psychology) – all dedicated to improving the lives of the people in our communities, including some of our most vulnerable populations. With collaborative, hands-on learning opportunities, experienced faculty and exclusive scholarships, the College of Applied Studies encourages students to explore their passions and chase their dreams. As our fields of study become more innovative, inclusive and individualized in the 21st century, the College of Applied Studies will continue developing the next generation of passionate, prepared leaders.

At right: Coleman Middle School teacher Sam Belsan is an example of how philanthropy touches many lives. Scholarships helped pay for his education at Wichita State, and now he’s using that education to shape the futures of the children he teaches. “I love it that every person who’s invested in me is seeing their investment continue through my students,” says Belsan, a 2019 graduate.
