Milestone Anniversaries

Recognizing WSU Foundation employees who have reached significant work anniversaries.

Please celebrate with us in honor of Amy’s 15-year milestone here at the Foundation. Amy works as a Gift Records Clerk and has enjoyed watching the university transform during her time here. “When I started here, there was no Starbucks next door; we looked out to a beautiful golf course which is where all of the innovation campus is today,” she said. “All of these changes have brought more awareness to campus and allowed students to have real life experiences working with businesses now housed here at WSU.”

Outside of the Foundation, Amy enjoys working on house projects with her husband, spending time with family/friends and walking around Wichita’s beautiful and interesting nature trails. Her favorite part about working at Wichita State is the people across campus, and we’re thankful she’s a part of the Foundation team.

Congratulations Amy!

Phoebe Garcia

Please join us in celebrating with Phoebe on her 23 years at the WSU Foundation!

Phoebe is the assistant to the Vice President, working primarily with the planned giving division within the Foundation. She loves being able to work in a rewarding role where she can see the benefit to society in the long run.

She has 3 children, soon-to-be 8 grandchildren, and her two dogs, who she’s named as her ‘substitute children.’ In her free time, she enjoys cheering on Shocker teams and the Kansas City Chiefs.

WSU has changed quite a bit since she started working at the Foundation, and although admitting to being a little overwhelmed by the changes and technology at first, Phoebe believes that this innovation is putting WSU on the map as an outstanding university.

Congratulations Phoebe!

Please join us in welcoming Emily Mullins to the WSU Foundation. Emily joins the marketing and communication team as the director of communications and will help share the stories of donors and students through the Foundation’s monthly Horizon newsletter. She will also work closely with the development team to write funding proposals to share with prospective donors. Emily is a two-time Wichita State graduate with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from WSU’s Elliott School of Communication, and she is excited to return to the Wichita State community. When not working, Emily loves to read, hike and design and build furniture. She’s an avid traveler and hopes to continue exploring unique and beautiful places around the world.

“I’m thrilled to return to Wichita State in a new capacity and work with the incredible team at the Foundation,” she said. “With the welcoming community, challenging experiences and rich relationships I’ve found here over the years, WSU has always felt like home.”

Corey Saleh

We’re proud to announce Corey Saleh’s selection as a 2022 Young Professional in Education honoree by the Wichita Business Journal. Corey’s work as campaign director at the WSU Foundation is fundamental to the success of the University.

Corey has worked in higher education since 2004. She loves being a mentor and supporter to students, cheering them on in their successes and goals. She wants to be a positive influence in students’ lives, much like her grandparents and mother, who also worked in education. Corey loves being able to make a difference in the university community.

“Wichita State is an exceptional university,” said Corey. “We are innovating, growing, and providing students applied learning experiences that will help them succeed after graduation. It brings me gratification seeing students achieve their hopes and dreams, even if we never meet.”

Corey hopes to foster a culture of philanthropy across the university, saying, “We need to remember that giving back is sharing love with others. Join in the party and let’s make a positive difference in the lives of our students.”
