Shocker Happenings

Shockers from just about everywhere come together for celebrations of all sorts, everything from Wichita State sports watch parties to the first-ever yellow-and-BLACK tie Heritage Gala. Whatever the event, that one-of-a-kind, illimitable Shocker Spirit always shines through.

“Our Alumni Engagement team wants to connect every one of our more than 215,000 students, alumni and friends with one another – and with projects, programs and events that are of interest to them,” says Stacie Williamson ’05, WSUFAE vice president for alumni engagement.

“We’d love to see you at our next Shocker Happening!”

Shocker Spirit

Last year’s calendar was chock-full of spirited events on campus and across the state and nation. Back in June 2023, the Shocker Summer Caravan, featuring meet-and-greets with Wichita State Shocker coaches and other university personalities, made stops in Hutchinson, Dodge City, Kansas City and Oklahoma City.

Other 2023 special events included the WSU Alumni & Friends Chiefs Tailgate in KCMO, a Shocker Social in Denver, and the Back-to-School Teacher Bash and Shocktoberfest Patio Party right here on campus.

Nearly 300 Shockers gathered on Tuesday, Nov. 7 for Wichita State’s inaugural Heritage Gala. Hosted by the WSUFAE, the event mixed two traditional events, the WSUF’s President’s Club Gala and the WSUAA’s Alumni Awards ceremony, into a brand-new, upbeat Shocker celebration of excellence, service and achievement – complete with soundtrack by Shocker Sound.
